NALC is excited to announce the launch of a new online learning management system (LMS) designed to deliver training to union representatives and members across the country. As explained in the March edition of The Postal Record, NALC has been developing the LMS in conjunction with Vocalmeet, a company that helps organizations like NALC build online education programs.
In addition to the development of the LMS, NALC has also been working on the creation of a standardized Informal Step A Training program to help shop stewards represent members on the workroom floor. The modules created for this program vary in length from 15 to 60 minutes and cover a variety of subjects NALC members and union representatives will find helpful.
Access to the LMS will be turned on in Region 4 on Tuesday, May 19.
For more information on the LMS, including how to access it, please visit the below link:

We have been receiving some calls asking about a text message that some members have received, and they are asking if the text is legitimate or a scam. The text is authentic and is for the purpose it states. It reads something like:
Your union, the NALC, is conducting a short survey about your contract and other important issues facing members. Your individual responses will be kept entirely confidential. Please make sure the voices of letter carriers are heard by clicking on this link to take the survey!
The text is randomly generated so not all members will receive it.
If you have any questions, feel free to call our office.

Below is a message from NALC Director of Safety & Health, Manny Peralta:
Many of you are aware of the pain we experience when we lose a co-worker in a vehicle accident because they may not have been wearing their seatbelt.
In the Fall of last year, the USPS approached the NALC and the NRLCA to seek our support for a national seatbelt pledge.
Before we made any commitments, we conditioned our participation and support to this program on one promise, specifically, that the seatbelt pledge cannot be used against any letter carrier in support of discipline or adverse action.
Management immediately agreed to our condition. In February of this year, the promotional video was recorded with Elvin Mercado, Chief Retail and Delivery Officer and Executive Vice President of the USPS and Don Maston, President of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. President Renfroe assigned me to speak for the NALC.
The following message was sent by Raj Sangera, Central Area VP of Operations announcing the plan for next week.
...First, I want to thank you for participating in this initiative. As you know our national seatbelt pledge is scheduled for April 21st. On this day, across the country, we will be showing the video, conducting the standup talk and participating in the pledge. Our leadership at the highest levels will be out in the delivery units also participating. Would love to see the branch presidents, local unions etc also in partnership with this endeavor..."

Some good news for once!
Please visit the link below to read about the sentencing of a Little Rock man to more than 10 Years in federal prison for armed robbery of a Little Rock letter carrier.
In February 2024, the carrier was delivering to a NBU at an apartment complex. A young man in a gray hoodie asked the carrier if they were finished delivering on the other side. The perpetrator grabbed the arrow lock key still in the lock, which was attached to the carrier’s belt. The perpetrator had his left hand on the key and his right hand on a gun. The carrier was successful in removing the key chain from the belt, and thankfully, was not physically injured.
Please remind our brothers and sisters to be safe out there and always be aware.
